In a bid to strengthen educational outcomes in Kogi State, the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) team, paid a courtesy visit to the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Femi Osungbohun.

The visit which was led by Kogi AGILE Project Coordinator, Dr. Abdulhakeem Bello, aimed to explore opportunities for collaboration between the AGILE project and the NYSC in promoting quality education across government-owned secondary schools in the state.

During the meeting, the AGILE team discussed ways to actively engage serving corps members in Kogi State to improve educational standards. The goal is to harness the skills and energy of the NYSC members to enhance learning in schools, particularly in rural areas, where resources are often limited.

In his opening remark, Mr. Femi Osungbohun expressed his delight at the initiative and praised AGILE's objectives. He emphasized the importance of the proposed partnership, noting that corps members are strategically positioned to make a meaningful impact on the education sector.

In his words, “We are honored that AGILE has found NYSC worthy of partnership. Corps members have always played a pivotal role in supporting education, and we look forward to engaging with the national body to ensure this innovative partnership thrives,” Mr. Osungbohun said.

He also expressed optimism about the potential impact of the collaboration, citing that the NYSC is committed to ensuring corps members contribute significantly to national development.

He added,  “We believe this partnership will not only benefit the students and schools but also provide corps members with valuable experiences and opportunities to serve their country in a profound way,” he added.

Dr. Abdulhakeem Bello, in his remarks, highlighted the significance of the AGILE project and the milestones it aims to achieve in Kogi State.

He explained that the project focuses on improving access to quality education for adolescent girls through infrastructure upgrades, digital literacy programs, Conditional Cash Transfers (CCT), second chance education and others.

Dr. Bello also pointed out that AGILE’s collaboration with NYSC would allow for a broader reach and a more sustainable impact.

“This partnership is about creating lasting change. By working with the NYSC, we can ensure that every school, no matter how remote, benefits from AGILE’s resources and the invaluable support of corps members. Together, we can create an educational environment where students can thrive and where teachers have the necessary tools to succeed,” Dr. Bello noted.

He assured the NYSC that the partnership would bring positive results, benefiting not only the students and corps members but also the overall educational landscape of Kogi State. “This is a win-win for all parties involved. We look forward to formalizing the partnership and seeing it bear fruit in the coming months,” Dr. Bello concluded.
