New Minimum Wage: Kogi Workers Hails Gov. Ododo For Matching Words With Action

Civil Servants in Kogi State have expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo over the payment of New Minimum wage.


On Wednesday this week, workers across the state received their October salary with reflection of the approved seventy two thousand, five hundred naira by the Governor.


Reacting to the development, the Director Account, Kogi State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Ahmed Suleiman Musa said the payment of the new minimum wage by Governor Ododo has relieved some of their problems.


According to him, the development has brought joy to the workers, who have been advocating for a wage adjustment to alleviate the economic hardships they face.


"The Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has tried, this minimum wage has relieve some of our problems especially school fee payment and we pray so that God should give him long life and the wisdom to pilot the state."


While appealing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to give more attention to Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed prayed God to guide, protect and give the Governor wisdom and strength to take the state to an enviable height.


On his part, Pastor Paul Funsho from the State Ministry of Justice, said Governor Ododo's administration has demonstrated its dedication to workers' well-being through various initiatives.


"I want to use this opportunity to thank the Governor for doing well for us, this is just the beginning, I know the man will still do more for us. All of us in my Ministry have gotten the money."


He commended Governor Ododo for implementing the new minimum wage which according to him is a significant step towards addressing the basic needs of workers in Kogi State.


A Staff of the State Ministry of Information, Mr. Adegboyega Segun appreciated Governor Ododo for the gesture at ensuring that civil servants meet up with their basic needs. 


"Ever since he assumed office as the executive governor of the state, he has been putting different things in place just to ensure that the civil servants enjoy and stay happy and as at yesterday 23rd of October, 2024 we received our salary not just that we received it early, we received the new minimum wage and I want to use this medium to thank His Excellency for such a great achievement."



On her part, a staff of STETSCOM, Mrs. Abayomi Remileku Opeyemi expressed gratitude to the Governor for matching his words with action and prayed God to continue to uplift him.


Mrs. Aisha Bosede Isah from Accountant Generals Office who prayed God to grant the Governor his desires, urged the workers to reciprocate the kind gesture by been committed to their duties.


Recall that Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, had on Seventh of this month approved a minimum wage of seventy-two thousand five hundred naira for Kogi civil servants.
