Kogi Finance Commissioner Flags Off Training On Computation Of Kogi State GDP 2024


Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Asiwaju Idris has flagged of the Training on Computation of Kogi State Gross Domestic Product.

Speaking at the occasion, the Commissioner described Gross Domestic Product as a measure in monetary terms of production of all goods and services within the State in a specify period of time which is usually annually or quarterly.


According to him, Kogi State Bureau of Statistics in 2019 compute the first GDP covering the period of 2013-2017 as one of the State covered during the second phase exercise by NBS, which started in 2017.

Mr. Idris noted that to have a robust and effective planning on the basis of the economy size of the State requires that the macroeconomic statistics such as GDP is not only timely, reliable and accurate but up to date.

While noting that the exercise is expected to last for at least fifteen weeks of rigorous work, the Commissioner noted that the State Government has decided to bridge the gap between 2018 till date.

The Commissioner appreciated stakeholders involved for their support and urged them to put in their effort in making the training, survey and computation of GDP a huge success in the State.

In a remark, the Representative of National Bureau of Statistic, Mrs. Narabor Oyateide, called on the Statisticians to put in their best in other to come out with the desired result.

According to her, the training with afford the State the opportunity to know her worth in goods and services and to also compare herself with other States.

Earlier in her welcome address, the State Statistician General, Mrs. Ayo-Alani Irewole said the essence of the program is to enable the State know that value of goods and services produced within the State in monetary terms. 


She appealed to the enumerators to pay attention to the training to enable them have a reliable and timely data.
