Kogi Youths And Student Groups Dissociate Self From Planned Nationwide Hunger Protest

Youths and Student groups in Kogi State have advised their members not to join the planned August first nationwide hunger protest.

This was part of the resolution at the end of a meeting between the Kogi State Commissioner for Youths and Sports development, Mr. Monday Anyebe and the various youths and student groups body in Lokoja.

Speaking, the National President, National Association of Kogi State Students, NAKOSS, Doctor Jeremiah Elukpo said the proposed nationwide hunger protest was not the way to go now as that could be counterproductive and hijacked by hoodlums.

Doctor Elukpo said the efforts of the present administration under president Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to stabilise the economy should be appreciated.

He said what is affecting the nation is a global issue hence the need for dialogue with stakeholders in the country on how to move the nation and state forward.

The NAKOSS president urged the youths and students body in the State not to involve themselves in the proposed protest for peace, unity and stability of the State and the country at large.

Also, the Kogi State Chairman National Youth Council of Nigeria, Comrade Benjamin Jeremiah Ojodale on his part said they were not joining the protest because, the challenges being faced in the country was not a creation of President Bola Tinubu as such would take time to address them which the present administration is already doing.

Comrade Ojodale called on the youths in the state not to be part of the protest

In a remark the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development Hon Monday Anyebe appreciated the youths and student groups for taking a stand not to join the planned nationwide hunger protest.

Hon. Anyebe said President Bola Tinubu meant well for the country as he had initiated a lot of programmes to revamp the economy and curb insecurity.

The Commissioner said the present administration under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu needs total support from the people for more dividends of democracy in the State and the country.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Student Affairs, Hon. Nihi Oladele John thanks the Youth in the for their efforts and support so far for the present administration under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and president Bola Ahmed Tinubu and called on them not to relent in their support for more Youth empowerment Programmes for their welfare.

The Senior Special Assistant to Kogi State Governor on Youths and Women Mobilization, Charity Ijese Omole, said the president was doing all he could to address the challenges in the country and needs the support of Nigerians to ensure a better country.

She appreciated Kogi youths and student groups for their understanding and toeing the part of peace and national unity.

Present at the event was Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth, Hon. Abdulkadir Ali Keller.
