Sustain The Ethics Of Journalism- Imam Ayuba
Journalist in Kogi State have been advised to continue to uphold the ethics of the Profession.
The Imam of Kogi State Ministry of Education Juma'at Mosque, Lokoja, Ustaz Abdulganiyu Ayuba gave the advice in a special Jumaat service as part of activities marking this years NUJ Press Week in Lokoja.
The Imam who urged journalists to stand by the truth at all times enjoined them to play the role of watchdogs of society with the fear of Allah.
The Imam used the occasion to pray for journalists who daily face difficult challenges in the discharge of their duties.
Speaking shortly after the prayer, Chairman of Kogi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalist, NUJ, Alhaji Seidu Ademu expressed gratitude to God for His protection over members of the union over the years in the discharge of their duties.
He said the prayer session was appropriate to seek the face of God for his continued guidance and protection.
Alhaji Seidu who expressed gratitude to members for their support so far noted that several activities had been lined up to mark this year’s celebration of the NUJ press week in the state.
On his part, the Chairman Planning Committee of the Programme and immediate past Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Adeiza Momohjimoh expressed optimism towards the success of the programme in view of the level of preparedness and government and relevant stakeholders support enjoined so far.
According to him, part of activities lined up for the program include, Church service on Sunday to be followed by a road walk for members on Monday and grand finale as well as investiture of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo as the patron of the council to hold on Tuesday.
The Chairman was accompanied to the Special Jumaat service by former Chairmen of the Council, Alhaji Ali Atabor, Alhaji Adeiza Momohjimoh, members of the state Executive, Secretary of Radio Kogi Chapel of the NUJ, Comrade Bashir Opaluwa Idris, Vice Chairperson of NAWOJ, Hajia Rabi Jibo Mohammed among others.
