Gov. Ododo Reiterates Commitment To Collaborating With Traditional Institution

Kogi State Government says it has fortified and equipped forty two transit camps as contingencies for flood.



Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo stated this in a message to the celebration of this year's Lokoja Day.


The Governor who was represented by his deputy, Elder Joel Salifu Oyibo, said the decision is in preparation for any impending flood that is currently affecting other states in the country.


He advised those residing at the river bank to relocate to higher ground to avoid being submerge by the impending flood.



Governor Ododo commended the Maigeri Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Maikerfi the fourth for recognizing and bestowing chieftaincy titles on the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf and six other illustrious sons and daughter of Lokoja.


The Governor used the occasion to reiterates his administration's determination to support traditional institution as the closest to the people to fast track peace and unity of the state.


Governor Ododo congratulated the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf and the six other receipts for the honours done them by the Maigeri Lokoja and urged them to see it as a call to actions  by bracing up to the challenges of community services.


The Maigari Lokoja and Chairman, Lokoja Local Government Area Traditional Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Maikarfe the fourth, commended Governor Ododo for his development programmes so far.


Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Maikarfe the fourth particularly praised the Governor on his administration's commitment to prioritizing security, human and infrastructural development.


The traditional ruler explained that the beneficiaries of this year's chieftiancy titles were chosen based on their positive impact on the community and the society, saying the measure will enable them to do more.


While appealing to the State Government to take a look at the water shortage in Lokoja and environs in order to promptly address the challenge, the Maigari Lokoja urged the Government to release the Paparanda Open Square earlier owned by the community and facilitate completion of the proposed befitting palace for the day-to day running of the Council's activities.


Responding on behalf of the benefitaries, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf expressed appreciation to the Lokoja Local Government Traditional Council for the confidence bestowed on them.



The Speaker pledged to do all within his reach to influence the state government to build a befitting palace at the designated paparanda site for the traditional institution.
