Hon. Aguye Flags Off Distribution of Relief Materials to Flood, Rainstorm, Fire Victims

Member representing Lokoja/Kogi-KotonKarfe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Alhaji Danladi Aguye has flagged off the distribution of relief items worth millions of Naira to victims of flood, windstorm and fire disaster across the Constituency.
The lawmaker in conjunction with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) performed the ceremony at the weekend at Karara community in Lokoja Local Government Area.
The relief items include bags of rice, garri, spaghetti, Maggi seasoning, Tomato paste, vegetable oil, clothing for men, women, and children and buckets.
Speaking at the ceremony, Alhaji Aguye said the Federal government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is concerned over the plight of the victims and have brought relief materials to cushion their suffering in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
While commending the President for approving the relief assistance to the affected persons, the Lawmaker said the items would help cushion the effect of the disasters that had ravaged so many homes and displaced so many persons in the Constituency.
Alhaji Aguye also appreciated the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA for their prompt response and assured that the relief materials would be transparently distributed to the affected persons.
Earlier, the Director General of National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA Mrs. Zubaida Umar in a message to the occasion, described Alhaji Aguye as a leader with interest of his people at heart.
The Director General who was represented by the Head of Operations of NEMA, Mr. Justin Uwazuruonye said they received a distressed call from the lawmaker seeking for some intervention to those affected by the natural disaster in his constituency.
"After receiving a distressed call from Alhaji Danladi Aguye seeking for help from the agency, we had to swing into action immediately after our assessment together with our sister Agency in the state, the Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
While commiserating with the people and government of Kogi State over the unfortunate incident, the NEMA DG said the items were meant to cushion the effect of the incident.
On his part, the Executive Secretary of Kogi State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Muktar Atimah commended the Alhaji Danladi Aguye for attracting the items from the federal government to the constituency.
He cautioned those living by the river bank to relocate to higher levels to enable them mitigate the effect of flooding.
Some of the beneficiaries, Sahad Abubakar from Kogi Local Government, Mr. Oladele Adewale from Jamata Community and Ndanusa Jibrin, Landlord of Ajara Quarters in Lokoja Local Government Area who were full of joy and appreciation to the member representing Lokoja/Kogi Koton-Karfe Federal Constituency said the items given to them will help reduce their burden.
