KOGI SPORTS SUMMIT: Chairman Kogi State Handball Association Mr Jibril Ojih Saidu (FNIQS) Bags Award Of Excellence
In what many have described as the right step in the right direction and the surest way to encouraged the development of Sport and to bring back it's lost glory in Kogi State, the Kogi State Ministry of youth and sports development under the able and dynamic leadership of Honourable Monday Aridaojo Anyebe on Friday, 6th September 2024 held a one Day Summit to chart a viable way forward for Sport in kogi State.
Tagged "Kogi Sports Summit 2024", the event which is the first of it's kind in Kogi State was well attended by major stakeholders in the sport industry from within and outside the State.
Various Speakers at the summit Salute and appreciated the vision and foresight of the Honourable Commissioner to bring back the lost glory of Sport out of the doldrums of Sports obscurity and fast track it's Speedy development.
Problems bedeviling the sector in the State were highlighted by key speakers who know and understand the Sport terrain while probable solutions and way forward were proffered.
Among the key stakeholders who bare their minds out are a National/International Badminton Umpire Mr Bayo Ilori, Chief David Ehimony, a wrestling Coach in the Kogi State Sport Council Coach Ojo Ologunja, representative of Kogi State Referee Association Chairman Comrade Abel Baba and and the representative of the table tennis association.
High point of the summit was the presentation of awards to notable Sport personalities who have contributed immensely to the development of the sector since the creation of Kogi State 33 years ago.
Amongst the recipients is the Chairman of Kogi State Handball Association Mr Jibril Ojih Saidu who was conferred with an award of excellence for his immense contributions to the development of handball in the State.
Chairman, Kogi State Handball Association Mr Jibril Ojih Saidu thanked and appreciate the executive Governor of Kogi State Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports development Honourable Monday Aridaojo Anyebe for finding him worthy to be recognized.
" I'm not aware of the fact that the little I've done and still doing to improve the game of handball is not passing unnoticed. This award is not for me alone but to everyone who share in my vision and ideology to reposition the game of handball in Kogi State"
" I want to assure the Honourable Commissioner that I strongly support all his Laudable visions and ideologies for the sector and will continue to do my best in the task to reposition Sports in the State "
The Maiden edition of the Kogi Sports Summit witnessed a large turnout of stakeholders, dignitaries, Sport administrators, Coaches and the Media. The Commissioner promised to create an atmosphere of synergy where inputs are channelled to appropriate quarter for Sport development.
